My CLARA analysis
I found this a little surprising. This splodge of ink doesn't paint the best picture of me!
When I use the site's definition of a strong collaborator, it reads:
Collaboration: Interacting with fellow learners, getting and giving support, solving problems by teamwork; the opposite is being isolated.
Yikes.
The thing is, I don't feel isolated. I know I am part of a team that has my back. I can draw on them whenever I need them and they can ask for help from me. I think my biggest issue (if it is an 'issue') is that I like to solve problems by thinking them through myself. I need to internalise everything in order to make connections. I need time to process and arrive at solutions. There are only a few people I know who I can bounce ideas off and we see an idea evolve organically.
So, I don't feel isolated, but perhaps I am!
And then there's
Belonging: Being supported, encouraged, feeling at home, in my learning community; the opposite is being 'out of place'.
Again, I don't feel 'out of place'. I am very happy where I am. I feel fortunate to be in a school that allows me the room to explore new ways of learning and encourages me to take risks. I am also glad for the opportunity to step outside my comfort zone and work in collaborative teams. Having taught in an MLE I know I will never return to single cell classes. I know I am supported when I need help, I know I am exposed to new pedagogies and ways of thinking. I have been in a lot of teaching teams over my career and the ones I have been to in my last 3 years have easily felt the most rewarding.
One idea that has been most revelatory to me, is that the best teams are ones that have strengths in different areas. I might not be a great organiser, but I am a good analyser. I might not always enjoy logistics, but I love making connections.
So, I am a little out of place. Thankfully.
There's another tool that's worth considering when trying to identify my identity. The Myers Briggs test. A popular one that is used to gauge one's personality type is 16Personalities
When I do this test (and I've done it a number of times). I emerge as an INTP
This also discusses my strengths and weaknesses in great detail. If I compare these with the strengths and weaknesses from the CLARA tool, there are some obvious similarities.
